Kinda like when people are in life-threatening accidents. EMTs & surgeons work on them for hours, saving their lives. When they come to, they thank God for saving their lives. Credit should go to the doctors & EMTs, dontcha think?

Jehovah, the God of Parking Lots
by 00DAD inthis idea was brought up on another thread today, but i thought this particular angle deserved it's own thread.
have you ever noticed that jws that have completely swallowed the kool-aid are really whacked in their thinking when it comes to interpreting life's events.

I sharted on a date once during dinner. I had some pretty severe intestinal cramps just after the appetizer arrived and excused myself to hurry to the bathroom. It felt like it was just going to be a horrendous fart, so when I got to the restroom, I just let 'er rip. Unfortunately, it was a full-on shart. I threw away my ravaged undies and cleaned up as best I could in a public restroom, but the damage was too severe. I called two separate cabs, returned to the table, politely told my blind date that I had an emergency and needed to leave immediately, gave her $40 for the cab, bid her farewell, and make a quick break for it.
The sad part was, we really hit it off. There was some great chemistry and she was very pretty and charming. Of course, I never saw her again.

I see what you're trying to say here, OGD, but why can't religious gay people just worship the way they see fit without having to bring their beliefs into a political arena? Why do they need state approval to worship as they see fit? My point is, if everyone would just keep their beliefs and faith to themselves, without needing acceptance or permission from someone else, wouldn't that make things easier on everyone? If you are gay and want to be a Christian, just do it. Who cares if your Congressman thinks it's ok for you to be a Christian or not?
And no, I don't think it's OK for religious folks to try to force their beliefs into state law and legislature. To coin a cliche, it's the same as the example of watching TV. If you don't like the program that's on, don't watch it. There's no need to try and squelch the program so that everyone else can't watch it, if they choose to. Mind your own business on matters of faith and beliefs and everything will be much better for everyone.

Religion's simple recipe for authoritarian and absolute CONTROL of the "dumb sheeple"
by Fernando inthe bible is god's infallible word.we are god's only and infallible representatives.
we are always right no matter how wrong we are.thinking for a minute about the outcome achieved using these premises, they simply can't be true and reflective of god's intent with the bible, and the reality of the bible's current content and condition..

You make a great point, OldGenerationDude.
I will admit that I truly feel that the ideas and tenets that nearly all of the world's various religions are based on are, for the most part, utterly ridiculous. That doesn't give me the right to call the folks that adhere to these religions "dumb" or "stupid". I have seen religious folks do some pretty dumb things in the name of their religions. The Westboro Baptist Church's actions reinforce the point I'm trying to make here. Would you all not agree that the WBC's actions are pretty stupid? I would hope so.
I will be honest and state that deep down I really feel like most religious folks are misled and somewhat delusional. (I can't help it. i just don't believe in mythical creatures, genies, & fairy tales, and I think people that do are kinda silly). I will also say that when the uber religious let their faith act in such a way that they want to push their beliefs on everyone and attempt to force their morals into State law & legislature, then they become "dumb" and "stupid". When religion and faith are used as weapons, then these people are "dumb" and "stupid".
Is that a polite and acceptable enough way to put it?

I'm generally super liberal when it comes to most things. Something about breastfeeding a pre-teen offends something inside me, however. It just doesn't feel "okay".
I have no problem with mothers breastfeeding BABIES in public. Kids gotta eat, right?
Something about a kid over the age of 2 or 3 breastfeeding just creeps me out. It comes off as incestuous & pederastic.

Religion would be fine if it were ever possible to truly and without exception separate church from state. This current war on women & homosexuals is absolutely ridiculous & offensive.

Oregon State members..NEED HELP
by badseed into make a long story short, i need a physical address in the southern part of the state (outside medford area) ex: klamath falls, etc.
it doesn't have to be the south but has to be outside portland or medford areas.. the reason is that i'm presently in bakersfield ca and my vehicle (which is fine, btw) doesn't pass the emission requirements for registration.
so i need to register my vehicle where an emissions test is not required.

Low Key..I'm not trying to avoid the law, just trying to survive.
I can certainly understand and respect that. Been there.
Sorry, I was a little out of line in my comment to you. I'm a little stressed right now, I hope you'll overlook my comment.
I was a little hostile in my comments to you, as well. Apologies. Just trying to make your way in the world can be a very difficult task. I sincerely hope that things work out for you.
I had a shitbox Honda Accord once that was my sole means of transportation. It wouldn't pass emissions, either. A mechanic friend told me to get the oil changed just before taking it in for the emissions test. It worked. Maybe you could try that?

You're within the law if you actually plan on taking up residency in the State of Oregon. Sounds to me like you're trying to convince someone to aid and abet you in a fraudulent scheme. Good luck with that.
Booze does kill some people, yes. So does sugar, tobacco, energy drinks, sunlight, saturated fat, and greenhouse gasses emited by motor vehicles that won't pass emissions, etc, etc.
